Luxembourg : EIB finances KEM ONE's R & D and investments up to 50 million euros

Publish Date : 21-Feb-2019

The European Investment Bank has granted a loan of 50 million euros to the Lyon-based company KEM ONE, intended to finance part of its investments in the modernization of industrial tools and research and development. This loan is secured by the European Fund for Strategic Investments, EFSI, the heart of the Juncker Plan.

The second largest European manufacturer of PVC (polyvinyl chloride), the chemist KEM ONE is present in the construction, automotive, packaging and health markets. It focuses its R & D efforts on the development of new resins and the development of higher value-added specialty products (emulsion PVC, latex and chlorinated PVC).

In addition, as part of its modernization plan initiated in 2014, KEM ONE is pursuing its industrial investments. It has just launched the construction of a terminal and an ethylene storage on its site of Fos, in order to secure its supplies.

Pierre Moscovici , European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, said : "I am delighted with the signing of this new agreement under the Juncker Plan, which will help maintain the French industry of chemistry at the forefront of innovation. This is further proof of Europe's support for jobs and growth in France ".

"We are very pleased to accompany KEM ONE in a new phase of its development," said Ambroise Fayolle , Vice President of the European Investment Bank. This loan is one of the strong pillars of our innovation policy, but also reflects the EIB's desire to support the industry in France. "

"The support of the EIB is essential in the further development of our business," said Frederic Chalmin , Managing Director. It is a mark of confidence that KEM ONE once again inspires with its financial partners. "

This funding is provided under the MidCap France program, guaranteed by the Juncker Plan. It demonstrates the capacity now offered to the EIB - bank of the European Union - to support the investments of medium-sized companies.
