JACOBS ENGINEERING secures EPCM contract from HUNTSMAN for polyetheramine facility in SINGAPORE

Publish Date : 07-May-2015

Jacobs Engineering has won an engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract for an expansion program at Huntsman Corporation’s world scale polyetheramine facility in Singapore. Financial details of the contract were not announced.

Expansion of the Jurong Island facility would likely allow backward integration to produce polyethers from locally sourced feedstocks.

Over the next decade, Huntsman expects demand for polyetheramines to grow significantly, with main focus on the Asia Pacific market. Polyetheramines are used as ingredients towards improvement of the properties of many products, such as paint, adhesives and composites.

As per the contract, Jacobs will have to take up the detailed engineering and design, procurement of major equipment and management of construction services.

Commencement of construction is expected by mid-2015, to be completed in the second half of 2016.

Jacobs Group Vice President Kevin McMahon said, “Jacobs has a history of delivering successful projects for Huntsman in Singapore, and we are delighted to continue working with them on this project. We look forward to leveraging our globally recognized EPCM experience to oversee this important expansion.”
