Algeria : ALGERIA-EU action plan for renewable energy development

Experts of the European Union has developed an action plan for energy efficiency and the promotion of the use of renewable energies in Algeria.
During the first stage, the project would focus on the cities of Batna, Sidi Bel Abbes and Boumerdes, which have been chosen in collaboration with the Algerian authorities.
Main objective of the action plan is to enhance the quality of services offered in public electrification, raising awareness regarding the reduction of the use of this energy, and reorganizing transport plan, mainly the public transportation.
The action is being developed along with the involved communes, the directorates of transport and association operating in the field of environment. The action plan is to be finalized in July, and would be implemented by October 2015.
Further, experts will review the process to expand the programme to other Algerian cities.
