Turkey : TURKEY selects DORNIER for future regional jet program

Putting the aircraft on track to join a local fighter jet in operation by 2023, Turkey has selected Dornier to provide primary base models for its future regional jet program.
Speaking at a major event held on May 27 to launch the regional jet program, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, said, "By 2023 both [regional and fighter jets] will be in the air."
The program will see Turkey buying intellectual property rights for the Dornier 328 and Dornier 628 from the American Sierra Nevada Corp. (SNC).
Turkish businessman Fatih Ozmen-owned, SNC, produces integration solutions for aerospace systems and staffs over 3,000 people.
Turkish procurement officials said SNC has inked a memorandum of understanding with the Turkish state-controlled defense technologies company STM to work together on the regional jet program.
Davutoglu said, "The [planned] regional jet will meet both our civilian and military requirements."
