United Arab Emirates : SHIPSERV expands position among container shipping lines

Publish Date : 02-Jun-2015

With United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) signing up to ShipServ, the major marine and offshore e-market with $3bn of trade per year has expanded its position among container shipping lines.

The global carrier is now responsible for the technical management of one of the industry's youngest fleets. UASC is also participating in a major newbuilding program comprised of 17 new ships; eleven 15,000 TEU vessels and six 18,800 TEU vessels.

These vessels will be some of the world's most eco-efficient and environmentally friendly container vessels

UASC chose ShipServ for its strong ability to provide advanced sourcing and procurement tools alongside its core offering of improved transaction speeds and enhanced procurement efficiency.

Among these advanced tools and services are ShipServ Match, an automated supplier recommendation service, and a KPI benchmarking tool that offers specific purchasing KPIs based on the trading activities of over 9,000 vessels.

UASC will connect through its Spectec AMOS procurement software.

VP of Sales of ShipServ, Sharon Gill, said, "We are delighted to welcome such a prestigious shipping line such as UASC and to provide them with tools such as ShipServ Match to enhance their procurement process and save both time and money."

Waleed Al-Dawood, Chief Operating Officer at UASC, added, "ShipServ's tools including 'benchmarking' and 'Match' allow UASC to improve purchasing efficiency, a key objective within our organization and we look forward to a successful partnership."
