Ontario is launching a new program that will assist Aboriginal business owners in selling products and services to the Ontario government and help them win future clients and contracts.
The Aboriginal Procurement Program will lead to more opportunities for Aboriginal vendors to do business with the Ontario government.
When goods and services benefit Aboriginal people or communities, provincial ministries will be encouraged to purchase from Aboriginal-owned businesses.
The initiative will enable Aboriginal businesses to better understand the state procurement process while also helping to form joint ventures between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal businesses by encouraging collaborations for large contracts.
As part of Ontario's pledge to transparency, the government will release an annual report will be released publicly to show its progress on increasing procurement from Aboriginal suppliers.
