United Kingdom : TfL launches tender for supplier to provide managed network services

Publish Date : 08-Jul-2015

A tender has been launched by Transport for London (TfL) for a vendor to provide managed network services as part of wider technology transformation plans based around a service integration and management(SIAM) and towers model.

The network tower contract, worth Ł400m, will provide access network and wide area network (WAN) services across TfL's operations for a fixed period of 5 years, with room for a further extension that could double the total period of the the agreement to 10 years.

With interested participants having until July 30 to file their bids, between 4 to 6 operators would receive an invitation to tender (ITT) for the agreement.

As per the tender notice, the selected vendor may also have to extend services to shared service initiatives across TfL or other Greater London Authority (GLA) functional bodies.

The contract will also offer service coverage options to replace network services offered to other TfL business units with an estimated value of Ł145m. A further IM service option is included under the contract for Data Centre Local Area Network (LAN) service provision, worth an estimated Ł18m.

Along with the network tower, further procurement exercises that would be launched at a later date will focus on end user computing, as well as applicat0ion development and application management services (AMS), including hosting.

The SIAM component of TfL's procurement strategy, designed to consolidate and manage the delivery of the end-to-end ICT services divided into towers, started in November 2014.
