Philippines : DA-CAR submits P821M proposal for FMR improvement projects

The Department of Agriculture-Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-CAR) has requested estimated P821,768,211.73 worth of infrastructure sub-projects under the Intensified Building Up of Infrastructure and Logistics for Development (IBUILD) Component of the DA’s Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP).
DA Assistant Regional Danny Daguio said the said amount is intended to fund eight proposals for the improvement of existing farm-to-market roads(FMRs) within the Cordillera.
These include the improvement of Besao-Nacawang and Tadian-Mabalite FMR, a 20.71-kilometer road in Mt. Province with an estimate project cost of P190 million. Initial bidding process was completed last June 1.
Also in Mt. Province are the 4.577-km improvement of Banata-Sumey-ang-Cuba-Sadsadan FMR in Bauko, and the 3.198 km improvement of Poblacion-Bantay FMR in Natonin, Both are awaiting the issuance of No Objection Letters (NOL1) before proceeding to the procurement of goods.
Meanwhile, Kalinga has recently acquired the approval of the Regional Project Advisory Board- CAR last June 2 for its two pilot sub-project proposals entitled Improvement of Banneng-Gombowoy FMR estimated at P118.9M and the improvement of Bulanao-Amlao FMR (157.6M). These subprojects are endorsed for the acquisition of NOL1 from the National Project Coordination Office.
Three project proposals are intended for Benguet which include the 23.107 kms. Jose Mencio-Pasdong FMR with Vehicular Bridge (P249 M), the 13-km Amburayan-Lubo FMR( P170,000.00) and the KM 49 Batan-Penged-Baiuen-Adaoay FMR, a 17-km. road(P175,000.00). These proposals are still undergoing initial preparatory stages of the PRPD process flow.
Engr. Gaston Cael, I-BUILD Component Head for RPCO- CAR, said the region has committed to allot at least P2 billion worth of sub-project proposals under the IBUILD component for 2016 funding.
PRDP is a six-year government platform under the DA designed for an inclusive, value chain-oriented and climate-resilient agriculture and fisheries sector. Officially declared effective last December 2014, the P27.5B project is jointly funded by the World Bank, national government and local government units.
