Canada : ELORA Company secured $5.7 million deal for building of Naval Ships

Publish Date : 04-Aug-2015

Wellington-Halton Hills MP Michael Chong said, an Elora company will profit from a $5.7-million shipbuilding sub-deal from Irving Shipbuilding Inc.

The finance will be received by Elora-head-office Troy Life & Fire Safety's marine division that has many making facilities in Ontario.

It'll be used to provide fixed firefighting systems within the federal government's National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy, launched in 2010 to minimize the political feature of the dealing of shipbuilding awards.

Chong said, “I think the program is a very good program. We've taken the politics out of shipbuilding."

Although he couldn't mention a number on how many employments will be formed, he notified it will denote an increase to employment and economic development in Elora and further afield in Ontario.

Irving is to provide 6 ice-capable offshore patrols vessels in Canada's exclusive economic area, preferably in the Arctic.

The Royal Canadian Navy will likewise bolster different Canadian Armed Forces units in maritime operations.

Chong said, "Years ago, the government decided to build new ships for the Royal Canadian Navy and new ships for the Canadian Coast Guard."

Firms were welcomed to bid on deals, and Irving Shipbuilding Inc. was one of the lucky ones, he said. Ottawa granted it $25 billion "and this is part of that," he said of the declaration.
