Denmark,Finland : VESTAS wins 73MW wind turbine contract in FINLAND

Danish turbine maker Vestas has secured a contract from German wind power developer wpd for supply of turbines for the Tohkoja project in Kalajoki, Finland. The financial details of the deal were not revealed.
As per the contract, the Danish firm will have to supply and install 22 V117-3.3MW turbines, and the deal includes a 15-year service agreement and a de-icing system. Delivery of the turbines by Vestas is expected during the second quarter of next year, while the wind farm is scheduled for commissioning during the fourth quarter.
wpd turbine procurement head Lars Muller said, "We have already cooperated well with Vestas on many projects, and we look forward to a successful implementation of the Tohkoja wind farm as well."
Vestas Northern Europe president Klaus Steen Mortensen said, "This project features the Vestas De-icing System, which ensures efficient operation even when ice build-up conditions exist.
"After many years of close collaboration on wind energy projects in Germany, we are pleased to be working with wpd on what will become one of the largest wind parks in Finland."
In Finland, the Tohkoja wind farm will be wpd's third project, as through its subsidiary firm, wpd Finland, the company will be completing over 750MW of projects and has developed the 480MW Suurhiekka offshore wind farm.
