Bahamas : BAHAMAS resumes tender for country's second mobile telephony licence

The Bahamas Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) has announced resumption of the tender for the countrys second mobile telephony licence.
The long-running selection process was delayed after one of the bidders, Cable Bahamas, was accused of constructing illegal mobile communications towers in the New Providence area.
The URCA proceeded to fine Cable Bahamas however it allowed the operator to continue as a bidder for spectrum in the 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 1700/2100 MHz and 1900 MHz bands.
Cable Bahamas is in competition with Virgin Mobile for the mobile licence after Digicel pulled out of the tender process.
