Oman : ENGIE, MITSUI, MARUBENI targets development of OMAN's plant

Publish Date : 04-Sep-2015

French giant ENGIE (formerly GDF SUEZ) and Japanese firms Mitsui and Marubeni are leading consortiums for development of Omans newest independent power project (IPP).

Oman Power and Water Procurement Co (OPWP) got the bids for the tender for construction of a 2,600MW plant over two sites at Ibri and Sohar by 2017/2018.

Revealing the bids on its website, OPWP did not disclose additional details of the offers received.

The natural gas feedstock for the project is to be sold to the winning developer at a pre-determined price by the government. OPWP will be the sole purchaser of power offtake.
