Australia : Dalby Capability Workshop improves chances to win contracts

Publish Date : 05-Oct-2015

Dalby businesses will have the chance to hone their skills and improve their success in government and private sector tendering processes at a workshop on Thursday, 15 October. Acting Premier and Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships Curtis Pitt said the purpose of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Business Capability Statement Workshop was very specific.

At the end of this workshop participants will be able to develop concise and relevant capability statements, these are critical documents for submitting tenders for government contracts, Mr Pitt said. This workshop follows on from the very successful Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Business Procurement Workshop held on September 16.

The Palaszczuk Government is committed to increasing the representation of Indigenous-owned enterprises in government procurement activity so I hope local businesses will take advantage of the upcoming workshop. We are focused on increasing Queensland Government procurement expenditure with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses in Dalby and around the state. Procurement investment is worth approximately $18 billion annually and for too long, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander enterprise has been under-represented in this investment. Its time that changed.

This second workshop in Dalby is another chance for locals to gain greater insight into tendering for government and private sector contracts, in this case preparing effective capability statements and better positioning them in the tendering process, while building their knowledge and capabilities along the way. For those who attended the initial Business Procurement Workshop, this session will enhance their overall procurement knowledge with the central aim of improving successes and outcomes in their businesses moving forward.

Delivered by the Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, along with the Department of State Development, the workshop will be held on Thursday, 15 October at the Drovers Motor Inn, 87 Drayton Street Dalby, from 3pm to 8pm.
