Ethiopia : AACRA debarred 4 construction firms for approaching ventures in ETHIOPIA

The Addis Ababa City Roads Authority (AACRA) debarred 4 construction companies from emerging projects in Addis Ababa.
These eminent construction companies engaged in many projects in the last years were deferred because of the fact that the contractors performance measurement outcomes were below 75%, that is below the standard.
Director General of AACRA, Engineer Fekadu Haile, said that the contractors had been suspended from 2 new road construction project bids that were sought for the budget year and will not take part on any approaching projects until they finish the projects they are presently handling.
Among those that were suspended are Satcon Construction PLC, Afro Tsion Construction PLC, Homa Construction PLC and Ethio General PLC.
The suspended construction firms have current asphalt road projects in the city that have not been delivered on time. We take this measure to be a lesson for other contractors, who may not conduct their work as per the schedule, said Engineer Fekadu.
As per ACCRA, poor project management and delivery by local contractors is asking the road officials to award projects to abroad contractors. It observed that the firms shall be capable to take part on future projects only if that they finish their projects.
