Spain,United States : VESTAS Arm sealed turbine service deal in the US

Publish Date : 27-May-2016

The Vestas subsidiary UpWind Solutions has accomplished the signing a turbine service contract with Berkshire Hathaway Energy and its subsidiary units of MidAmerican Energy and PacifiCorp.

UpWind Solutions has signed the contract for 1.75GW of GE 1.5MW turbines located across the United States.

As part of this deal, UpWind Solutions will provide maintenance services for 1.75 GW of GE 1.5 S & SLE turbines throughout 15 locations across Iowa, Wyoming, and Oregon in the US.

In December 2015, Vestas, in a bid to optimize performance across different turbine models, moved ahead with the acquisition of UpWind Solutions.

The company is also key provider of components for nearly all of the major turbine technologies, with delivery of technical assistance, conducting of blade inspection and repair services, in addition to the offering of different performance-related upgrading works.

Currently, UpWind manages operations and maintenance of over 3GW of all key OEM technologies in the North American market.

The President of UpWind Solutions Peter Wells commented, "The wind turbine service industry is transforming, and we are proud to lead from the front of that transformation as we set a new standard for service excellence, not limited by the traditional definitions of OEM vs. ISP, focusing on 'what' and 'how' we deliver exceptional results, rather than 'who'. We believe the role of a service provider expands beyond simply selling services.

"This agreement confirms that hypothesis and demonstrates the value we can deliver to our customers. We are proud to partner with MidAmerican Energy and PacifiCorp to extract the full lifetime value of their turbines."
