United Kingdom : Boskalis to work on proposed 92.4MW Aberdeen offshore wind farm in Scotland

Netherlands-based construction company Royal Boskalis Westminster has won 100m offshore balance of plant contract from Swedish power company Vattenfall, to construct the proposed 92.4MW Aberdeen offshore wind farm in Scotland.

As per the contract, Boskalis will be responsible to supply every offshore element of the Aberdeen wind farm, excluding the delivery of the wind turbines for the SEK3bn ($348.3m) project, also known as the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC).

With completion expected in 2018, the EOWDC will even test and demonstrate new offshore wind technologies.

The scope of contract covers designing, procurement, fabrication, delivery, transportation along with implementation of eleven suction bucket jacket foundations and scour protection.

Boskalis Westminster, through its subsidiary VBMS, will also have to care care of the procurement, delivery, transportation and deployment of 66kV inter array and export cables.

Under this contract, the foundations and cables will be delivered and installed with Boskalis own assets to include include a fallpipe vessel, a large floating sheerleg crane, a cable laying vessel and transport barges.
