United States : SRP BOARD agreed to buy energy from new 50MW PV Solar Power Plant of APPLE

Publish Date : 28-Sep-2016

The Board of Directors of Salt River Project (SRP) has given approval for the procurement of clean energy generated by the Pinal County-based new 50-megawatt photo-voltaic solar power station of Apple.

SRP is one of the team members that helped Apple to come to the East Valley two years back and to build interconnection close to the plant to ensure hassle-free construction of the Bonnybrooke PV solar facility.

Apple has already completed construction work and has planned to commission a large-scale solar array to provide green energy to the SRP grid, which serves the American tech giant too.

The GM & CEO of SRP Mark Bonsall disclosed, SRP is committed to working with our customers like Apple to meet their energy needs with the accelerated development of renewable resources, such as solar and geothermal, without increasing costs to our other customers.

Bonsall added, This opportunity is not only economical, but a powerful demonstration of how SRP can be a catalyst for economic development in the Valley.

SRP, through the acquisition of the output of the Bonnybrooke facility, will be able to trim down its carbon footprint caused by the use of fossil fuel resources to serve its million customers in the greater Phoenix region.

Other SRP rate payers will remain protected from the terms of the 25-year purchase agreement.
