Ukraine : Ukrhydroenergo offers EUR60M upgrade contract for 90-year old Dnipro 1 project

As Andritz Hydro has won a EUR60 million contract, the 9 decades old Dniper 1 project on the Dnieper River, Ukraine, will see its output rise, along with safety and reliability upgrades.
Ukraine's state-owned utility Ukrhydroenergo offered the contract, which includes the complete restoration of three 75MW Francis turbines and generators, including dismantling, delivery of new equipment, installation, and testing.
All key parts will be replaced by new equipment, except for the embedded parts.
A hydraulic model test will enable optimum performance of the new turbines to be defined and demonstrated within the geometric conditions of the current powerhouse.
The project is part of a rehabilitation program funded by the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The upgrade work is scheduled for completion by the end of 2021.
