Australia : REDARC Contender as Teaming Partner for LAND 400 Phase 2

South Australian-based advanced manufacturing company REDARC Electronics has been named as a Teaming Partner for Rheinmetall and BAE Systems Australia who are both tendering for the LAND 400 Phase 2 contract.

The estimated cost of the LAND 400 program is between $14 and $20 billion, making it the biggest ever in the Australian Army's history.

BAE Systems has put forward the Patria AMV35 and Rheinmetall has proposed the Boxer CRV. Vehicles from each tenderer will be extensively tested to assess their protection and other capabilities. The outcomes from these tests will be used by Defence to undertake a final evaluation of each tenderers proposal.

REDARC have been selected as an SME partner to deliver a range of services and products that will contribute into the vehicle type each Prime have put forward.

REDARC have established themselves as a key SME in the Australian Defence sector over the past 5 years, Defence is a strategic pillar for the business with it seen as an opportunity for the business to grow in coming years.

REDARCs Managing Director, Mr Kittel said these announcements are a great demonstration of how innovative Australian companies can expand and adapt its array of products into military vehicles.

Through the commitment of the Australian government in maximising Australian Industry Contribution in the build of Defence projects, REDARC is well positioned to provide world-class innovation and compete on a world stage with the goal of becoming part of the Defence global supply chain.

Mr Kittel said working with Defence Primes will help underpin the companys future growth plans and create advanced manufacturing jobs.

Our design and manufacturing capabilities have been recognised as operating at a competitive scale and the business is primed to play an increased role in producing products suitable for the defence industry.

To date, REDARC has worked with major Primes in modifying existing products to suit military requirements which are now being supplied into land vehicle programs.

2017 has seen REDARC invited to visit major Primes in Europe, with visits to multiple organizations in Sweden, Germany and the UK. This initiative was undertaken by REDARC at its own expense and has proven to be highly beneficial. Since the visit, REDARC has also reciprocated by hosting the same Primes at its own facility.

In September REDARC will be exhibiting at Defence and Security Equipment International exhibition in London as a member of the Team Defence Australia delegation.

REDARC is currently undertaking a major facility upgrade which has seen new state-of-the-art machinery and testing and validation equipment purchased. Within the next 12 months 2,000sq m of advanced manufacturing space will be added and the creation of around 100 jobs over the next four years is planned to occur.

This announcement is exciting news for manufacturing in South Australia, its an opportunity to work with dedicated and highly skilled Primes to support the Australian defence industry Mr Kittel said.
