India : EIB approves EUR8.9bn infrastructure project funding; will support Indian renewable power facilities

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved funding of EUR 8.9bn for infrastructure projects across the world, including renewable power and other climate change-related action.
A part of the funds will be used to support new wind and solar facilities in India.
A co- investment programme will also be established with the Development Bank of Latin America to back projects in that region, including renewables.
European smart energy start-ups will also secure finance and a new dedicated credit line will be set up to support climate action by companies in the Czech Republic.
A total of 55 projects will get a share of the EUR8.9bn funding, which was agreed at the banks December board meeting.
