Under this initiative, the national transporter is looking for Aluminium coaches as an easy option to increase the train speed at the shortest possible time on the existing routes. According to senior officials of the Railway Authority, procurement of these coaches would save up to 1 crore on each coach besides will save up to 30% of electricity consumed by the Indian trains.
A Global Railway tender will shortly be floated, with this Aluminium coaches are to become the new future of the Indian railway. As the railways will go for lightweight material for a faster journey on existing tracks. When asked, whether these coaches will be from Talgo? the officials said procurement will be through the open tendering process in which companies from all around the globe can participate.
