The economy of Croatia has moved away from agriculture which was previously dominant to one that is now largely service-based. In terms of trade, Croatia's major export industries include chemical products, textiles, shipbuilding, food processing, and pharmaceuticals. There are oil fields and deposits of bauxite, iron ore, and other minerals. The main trading partners are Italy, Germany, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. While macroeconomic stabilization has largely been achieved, structural reforms lag because of deep resistance on the part of the public and lack of strong support from politicians. At the minimum, extensive Western aid and investment, especially in the tourist and oil industries, would seem necessary to revive the moribund economy.
