Agriculture is very important to the lifestyle of Niueans
and the economy. The economy is heavily dependent on aid from New Zealand and remittances as Niue
has no indigenous export product. Tourism has been identified as one of the
three priority economic sectors for economic development in Niue.
In 2003, Niue became the world's first WiFi
nation, in which free wireless Internet access is provided throughout the
country by The Internet Users Society-Niue.
