Spain : Adif tenders the first actions to expand capacity in the section between Pinar de Las Rozas and Las Matas

The tender contract foresees the expansion of the platform in the sub-segment located between kilometer points 24/160 and 24/360 of the Madrid-Hendaye conventional network line.
The objective of the complete project is to increase capacity in the Pinar section of Las Rozas-Las Matas Station, making the Cercanas traffic independent of the rest and achieving an increase in frequencies and traffic reliability
Adif has approved the tender for the contract for the execution of the first actions of the project to increase capacity in the section Pinar de Las Rozas-Las Matas Station, in the municipality of Las Rozas de Madrid, with a budget of 149,308 , 65 euros (VAT included) and an execution period of three months.
Specifically, the contract tendered provides for the expansion of the platform in the sub-section between kilometer points 24/160 and 24/360 of the conventional Madrid-Hendaye network line. The origin of the sub-section is at the north end of the Las Matas station and ends beyond the current exit exit of the station between the general roads.
At present, in the section Pinar de Las Rozas-Station of Las Matas, of 5.5 kilometers in length, they circulate in addition to commuter traffic, medium and long distance services, as well as freight trains. Sometimes, given the high use of infrastructure, long-distance and medium-distance trains must reduce their gear to adapt to commuter services. In addition, in certain time slots there is no capacity for freight trains.
Benefits of the entire project
The complete project to increase capacity in the Pinar de Las Rozas-Las Matas Station section, included in the Madrid Neighborhood Plan, includes a series of actions for this purpose: the extension of the platform and the construction of two new roads between the Pinar de Las Rozas station and the junction with the A-6 in Las Matas, prior to the fork of this corridor towards Pitis and Prncipe Po, as well as the adaptation of the Pinar de Las Rozas and Las Matas stations .
The two new roads will generate a section for the advancement of fast trains to trains with commuter stops. In this way, a direct reduction in travel time will be achieved, with gains of almost a minute and a half in the case of Cercanas services and about two minutes and 50 seconds for direct trains. In addition, the punctuality of all traffic (commuter, merchandise and medium and long distance) will be improved.
