Serbia : New electric traction plant in Junis launched

Publish Date : 26-Feb-2020

Serbian Railway Infrastructure has put into operation a 110-kilowatt switch at the Electric Substation in Djunis.

In this way, reliable operation of electrical installations was ensured, and thus conditions were created for better functioning of railway traffic on the part of international Corridor 10 through Serbia, between Belgrade and Nis.

Prior to the works being carried out, one of the existing two switches in the Junction Electric Substation in Djunis was faulty and the other was worn out at the functionality boundary, as these facilities had not been renewed for many years.

In the past year, three unipolar vacuum switches of 25 kilovolts and two voltage transformers of 110 kilovolts have been installed in the Electric Substation Djunis, which was previously in very poor condition.

With the commissioning of the new 110 kV switch, the entire Djunis Electric Substation plant has been extensively revitalized and trained for significantly more reliable and high quality operation than before.

The highest quality equipment was used in this project. The value of the work done is around 80 thousand euros, and the realization was financed by the Serbian Railway Infrastructure.

Electric traction substations are installations for the transformation of electricity and are distributed along electrified lines in Serbia. They are fed from the power grid through the power lines, which are then converted into a corresponding voltage system of electrified lines.
