BRAZIL : Scomi Engineering Bags RM2.6 billion monorail project in Brazil

A consortium that includes Malaysia’s Scomi Engineering Bhd (Scomi), a public listed subsidiary of Scomi Group Bhd has won a RM2.6 billion Line 17 Sao Paolo Monorail project in Brazil.
The Consortium contract covers the design works, manufacture, supply and implementation of the monorail system for the 20 km monorail line for the city of Manaus in Brazil.
The Manaus Monorail will consist of 9 stations from Largo da Matriz to Jorge Teixeira and will involve the supply of 10 train sets consisting of 6 cars in each set. The award is valued at BRZ Real 1.46 billion or approximately RM2.76 billion of which Scomi\'s portion is BRZ Real 342 million or approximately RM646.38 million.
The Manaus Monorail project will be completed in 40 months to offer efficient access to the airport, port, stadium, hotels, hospitals and other important locations especially during the 2014 World Cup hosted by Brazil.
