INDIA : RGTIL awarded project to Supply Gas to Chennai and Southern Tamil Nadu

Reliance Gas Transportation Infrastructure Ltd (RGTIL) has been granted the project of laying a pipeline that would connect Kakinada to Chennai. The project has been authorized by Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, which further expects the project to start in 2013-14.
However, the company has already mentioned the expected the delay in the project following the shortage of gas from KG basin, from which the gas is supposed to the transferred from this project. Thus, the company feels that the project lacks the business sense and company would have to go slow on the project. RGTIL is currently operating $3.75 billion East-West gas pipeline (EWPL) that connects Kakinada to industrial hubs of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
