FRANCE : Codelco Awarded US $394 million deal to Codelco Vinci

Codelco recently awarded project worth $ 394 million to French consortium Codelco Vinci - Bachy Soletanche for construction of two main tunnels in El- Teniente Mine. The contract awarded to the consortium Vinci Construction Grands Projects (60%) and Soletanche Bachy (40%) provides for the excavation by drilling and blasting system of two parallel tunnels.
One of the tunnel is planned for entry and exit staff buses, and the other for the transport of mineral belt, track services and alternative route for emergencies.
The award of the contract is the largest investment in the New Mine Level and means to start full structural project will extend the life of the mine El Teniente underground mine- largest in the world for at least 50 years,\" said Sergio Fuentes, VP of Projects at Codelco.
