UNITED STATES : APS issues RFP for solar photovoltaic facility

Arizona Public Service Co (APS) launched a Request for Proposal (RFP), from solar developers and installers to build a 17MW solar photovoltaic facility.
The company quoted that the new solar facility will be accomplished in 2013. As a part of the AZ Sun Program the facility will be owned and operated by APS. The new facility is estimated to offer electricity to over 4,000 Arizona homes.
APS with AZ Sun is investing in the development of 100 MW of solar photovoltaic power plants throughout Arizona. APS is teaming with third-party developers and equipment providers for the designing and building the facilities, increasing the opportunity for more developers to take part since project financing is offered by APS.
The company stated that last year the AZ Sun Program was sanctioned by the Arizona Corporation Commission. The four-year program is estimated to have around six solar facilities online by 2014 and will be able to generate over 1,000 Arizona construction jobs.
