KOREA, REPUBLIC OF : Hyundai bags $509 million drill ship order

Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., leading global shipbuilder and electro electric systems maker, 600 billion won ($509 million) order from Noble Corp.
As per this order, Hyundai Heavy Industries will build a drill ship for Noble Corp. With the newest contract, Hyundai is set to construct 10 drill ships in 2011.
The new deal is one of the two vessels covered as options in an agreement for two drill ships inked at the start of 2011. In March, Hyundai Heavy Industries accomplished its other option.
According to Hyundai Heavy Industries, the delivery of commissioned vessel will be made in second half of 2014. Company has been successful in drill ship market, due to its proficient design and advanced technologies. Its drill ships can drill up to 12km down from the sea surface, which is the deepest drilling depth on existing drill ships.
