KOREA, REPUBLIC OF,UNITED STATES :Korean Air Wins US$400 million Order to Overhaul U.S. Fighter Jets

Publish Date : 29-Sep-2011

Korean Air has won order worth US$400 million to overhaul U.S. Air Force fighter jets. Under the $400 million contract, Korean Air will renew the vertical tail wings of the F-15s and the electrical wiring of their radars, and take care of their maintenance, repair and overhaul until 2016.

The company stated that maintenance on each fighter jet will take five months. Korean Air has already overhauled around 530 F-15 fighters of the U.S. Air Force since 1983.

An airline spokesman said, “Korean Air was given the contract straight away instead of having to take part in a bid because the U.S. Air Force has a high opinion of the company.”
