AUSTRALIA,INDONESIA : Leighton Gets Mining Orders Worth Around EUR368M

Leighton Holdings, Australia based major project development and contracting company, obtained EUR 368 million deals in Indonesia and Australia.
Thiess, subsidiary of Leighton Holdings, obtained extended deal to run two mines in Indonesia\'s East Kalimantan, for additional 3-year. The company also obtained a deal in Australia\'s Pilbara region for development work on a new iron ore mine. The project has value of about EUR72 million (A $100 million).
PT Thiess Contractors Indonesia has been running Teguh Sinar Abadi and Firman Ketaun Perkasa coal mines near Melak for PT Bayan Resources mining group for several years. Thiess will now continue to develop the mine from 1 January 2012 with production of about 5 million metric tons of coal per annum. At Solomon Hub iron ore mine in Australia, Thiess will offer support to Fortescue Metals Group with development works.
As per the deal, Thiess will be responsible for early establishment, formation of haul roads in addition to mining early ore and waste. Iron ore is scheduled to be mined from 2012. The deal for the actual coal mining is not offered yet.
