UNITED STATES : Army Corps awards $1.8 million for Sacramento levee repair contract to Hard Rock Construction

Publish Date : 06-Oct-2011

Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District has awarded a contract to Hard Rock Construction of Live Oak. The deal worth $1.89 million is for raising a 4,000-foot-long stretch of levee situated between Howe Ave. and Watt Ave., with an average of one foot as well as upgrading the waterside slope to Corps’ standards.

The awarded contract forms part of the project of the American River Common Features, which is a joint venture between the Corps and the state’s Central Valley Flood Protection Board/Department of Water Resources.

Construction work is expected to start in July 2012 and is scheduled to complete by November 2012.

John Hoge Project Manager stated that, “Levee systems are only as strong as their weakest link.” He added, “That’s why addressing every levee section in need is so important.”

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District deals in provision of planning, engineering, project management, environmental restoration as well as construction services. It provides services to military and civilian customers in California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon and Wyoming.
