United States : DP CLEANTECH to build coconut-to-energy power plant

Publish Date : 04-Dec-2013

Biomass and waste-to-energy provider DP Cleantech has announced development of a biomass combustion technology for conversion of coconut waste into clean energy.

Recently, DP has inked a contract for delivery of the new turnkey solution for the Mahachai Green Power project in Samut Sakhon Province, Thailand.

Delivery of the 9.5MWe high pressure, high temperature plant will be done on an EPC basis which includes all electro-mechanical systems. The plant will operate on coconut waste residues, (husk, shell, frond and leaves).

Specially, the new design has been adapted for coconut waste ensuring reduced fuel consumption, flexibility for mixing various types of fuels in different sizes and high power yields.

Delivery of the project will be done from DP Cleantech's headquarters in Bangkok. Linking of the project with the grid is expected within 18 months from starting.

The power generated will contribute to the public grid, benefitting from Thailand's strong biomass feed-in-tariffs. Any remaining ashes are planned for utilisation as fertiliser for farming or filler material for construction.

Mr Simon Parker, CEO at DP CleanTech said, "We believe that the energy market in Thailand is ready to be at the forefront of the new generation of solutions for biomass to power, using higher efficiency, multi-fuel and low emissions solutions."
