Gamesa has inked an agreement with EDP Renewables to provide up to 225 of Gamesa G114-2.0 MW wind turbine generators, for up to 450 MW through 2016.

Borja Negro, Gamesa North America CEO, said, "This agreement strengthens the long-standing relationship we have with EDP Renewables globally and in North America." This the largest framwork agreement for Gamesa's G114-2.0 MW turbines till date.

Borja Negro further added, "This collaboration with a valued customer demonstrates the appeal of the Gamesa G114 model, which is one of the most efficient wind turbines in the market. The agreement reinforces Gamesa's presence in the United States and demonstrates our position as a technology leader in the U.S. wind power industry."

The G114-2.0 MW turbine is the latest evolution in the company's workhorse 2.0-2.5 MW platform. Gamesa has designed this turbine to produce more power at lower cost at low to medium wind speed sites, reducing the cost of energy.

Earlier, Gamesa and EDPR partnered on the 400-MW Lone Star Wind Farm near Abilene, Texas. About 1,500 MW wind turbines has been delivered by Games to EDPR all over the world.
