As per the third INR683m (€8.5m) contract, the company will supply a 400kV substation and a 220kV transformer bay at Gokarna, as well as a 220kV substation and feeder bays at Krishnanagar, India

Built to evacuate power from the 2x500 MW Sagardighi Power plant (Phase II), the 400kV AIS substation will directly be connected to the 400kV substation of power grid.

The Vidyasagar Park substation will feed the different industrial units coming up in the adjacent park of the Midnapore District, while Dharampur substation will connect existing substations at Jeerut and Aramabagh for the development of an extra high voltage network in the North 24 Parganas district.

"The company has played a significant role in building the transmission network in West Bengal," said Alstom T&D India managing director Rathin Basu, "With these orders, Alstom T&D India has secured leadership position with more than 50% market share in eastern India for GIS and AIS substations."

West Bengal government has planned major investments in the T&D sector with aim to build the state's transmission backbone, through which power will be channeled from the eastern part of the country.
