Publish Date : 11-Jan-2014

AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, together with Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co Ltd and Hyundai Rotem Company, has been awarded the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) for Rex Minerals’ Hillside project in South Australia.

The ECI contract includes the production of the project execution strategy, schedule and price for the main Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) works.

AMEC has a long association with Hillside, having previously completed the pre-feasibility and definitive feasibility study phases for the project.

“AMEC is proud of its involvement with the Hillside project and we are delighted to continue our long-standing relationship with Rex Minerals,” said AMEC’s Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific, Garry Dryburgh.“Drawing on our world class project execution skills, we look forward to working closely with Hyundai and our client in shaping what will be one of the largest copper projects to be developed in Australia.”

The Hillside project is located on the mid-eastern coast of the Yorke Peninsula, Australia. Once completed, the project will deliver an average of up to 100,000 tonnes of copper equivalent production per year over its expected 15 plus year mine life.
