Certain Inc. today announced it has appointed David Burton as vice president of product development and cloud operations. Previously, Burton spent eight years at Oracle, where he was the senior director of Oracle Applications Labs, responsible for all Marketing and Engineering systems used internally, including marketing automation, event management and PLM systems.

"Certain is defining the next generation of enterprise event management , and David’s role will be key in driving product innovation and delivery as we move forward," said Peter Micciche, Certain’s CEO. "His expertise in marketing technology is vast, having successfully implemented and driven results with numerous industry-leading systems. We are looking to his enterprise knowledge and strategic insights to lead our product and SaaS infrastructure operations as we continue to attract the world’s leading companies to our event management platform."

During the course of 2013, Certain developed a new approach to event management that accelerates the revenue cycle, empowering marketers to "personalize" the event experience for attendees and prospects to guide them to the educational content and 1-to-1 connections they need to more rapidly progress through the buying cycle. With Burton’s expertise, the company will further develop this offering in 2014.

At Oracle, Burton was responsible for implementing marketing and engineering systems for global internal uses. He specialized in Eloqua SaaS (software as a service) Marketing Automation, Event Management, Siebel CRM, Fusion CRM, Social Marketing and PLM (product lifecycle management) software. Prior to his tenure at Oracle, David gained global enterprise systems experience in a variety of international assignments with Kodak Asia Pacific, Ballard Power Systems, Inc. and Rand Worldwide.
