India : INFRA-sharing agreement with Tower Vision signed by Reliance Jio

A telecom tower-sharing agreement with Tower Vision India is signed by Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of India’s biggest private sector company Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL).

For the company this is the 5th tower agreements in the latest past as it gears up to introduce 4G services in the country.

Tower Vision India, an independent tower company, has a portfolio of 8,400 towers across the country. RJIL under the agreement would utilize the tower infrastructure to launch its services.

Sanjay Mashruwala, Managing Director, RJIL said, “We are committed to offer our customers wide coverage of high speed 4G networks. As a consequence, we are continuing to build this through a combination of towers that we are constructing on our own and those that we are renting from quality tower infrastructure partners”. “Our partnership with Tower Vision is another step in this direction,” he added.

RJIL signed a tower-sharing agreement with self-governing infrastructure provider ATC India. RJIL will utilize approximately 11,000 towers under the agreement as it gears up to launch its services across the country.

RJIL had previously signed similar agreements with Bharti Infratel, Viom Networks and Reliance Communications. It had furthermore signed an inter-city optical fibre sharing agreement with RCom in April previous year as part of a comprehensive framework of business co-operation between the companies.

These agreements, as per to industry sources, will assist the company offer 4G services on a pan-India basis. The company plans to launch services by October or December this year.
