VENEZUELA : €192m contract signed by consortium to develop the second phase of Metro Los Teques

A €192m contract is been signed by a consortium of Alstom Transport, Colas Rail and Thales Transportation Systems for developing the second phase of Metro Los Teques.

Line 1 around 9.5 km was constructed for connecting the city of Los Teques with the capital to the northwest, was started in November 2006. It runs from the Metro de Caracas Line 2 terminus at Las Adjuntas to Ali Primera having no intermediate stations.

This second phase will continue Metro Los Teques 12 km through central Los Teques to San Antonio as Line 2, which will add more six stations.

Work is scheduled to start by the end of October and would be completed within four years.

Colas Rail announced the contract and has revealed that its share is of around €96m, to comprise of tracklaying, auxiliary and emergency power supplies and fire detection systems.
