TURKEY : Istanbul awards Asian metro contract worth €564m

Dogus Insaat ve Ticaret has been awarded a contract by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality worth €564m which comprises of civil and electrical works for a second metro line on the Asian side of the city.

The 16.9 km east-west line will be initiated from the Uskudar ferry terminal and will feature 16 stations serving the Umraniye, Çekmekoy and Sancaktepe districts.
The project is been supported by EIB with €479m loan.

The first metro line of 22 km which is almost on the verge of completion and is expected to be opened by the end of this year, is on the Asian side between Kadikoy and Kartal.

The construction work is scheduled to conclude by the end of 2014
