SAUDI ARABIA,SPAIN : Spanish consortium secures €6.7 billion Saudi Arabia rail contract

The governments of Saudi Arabia and Spain stated that a group of 12 Spanish companies secured a contract to build a high-speed rail service.
The €6.7 billion contract is for the establishing of a high-speed rail service connecting the Saudi cities of Medina and Mecca.
The Saudi Railways Organization noted that the Al-Shoula Consortium that comprises Spanish state rail operator Renfe and the Saudi companies Al Shoula and Al Rosan will construct the line.
Al-Shoula prevailed over a consortium headed by France\'s Alstom.
