Publish Date : 11-Jul-2014

The Dangote Cement Ghana Limited commenced an expansion project worth US $35 million to address the incidence of shortages of cement in the country.

The expansion project is established at Takoradi and the company’s current plant at Tema will be completed in 14 months and 3 months.

The Tema begun while the Takoradi project is still at the foundation stage. When completed its annual production will increase to 3 million tonnes.

The expansion of Dangote plant comes in the wake of rising cement prices, which is selling at GH˘32 for a bag in Accra and GH˘35 in other regions of the country.

The Vice-Chairman of the company, Tajudeen A. Sijuade, said that the project had been necessitated by the demand on the Ghanaian market.

For 5 years, the company has been operating, the major concern is the lack of supply of the products to meet the needs of the construction industry, hence the decision to expand.

The company’s vision is to reach 3 million customers in 3 years and the company is working hard to achieve that.

The company would not compromise on quality in an attempts to meet the demand of the Ghanaian market.
