Spain : TELEFONICA inks development agreement with HUAWEI to improve FTTH deployment

In Spain, Telefonica have signed a development agreement with Huawei to deploy connectivity elements for Optical Distribution Network (ODN), to improve improving Telefonica's fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure.
Within next couple of years, the Spanish telco plans for an ambitious expansion of its fibre network.
Telefonica in a deal with Huawei, will deploy the FastConnect solution, an alternative system for optical connectors out in the open.
The solution supplied by the Chinese company has capacity to work in high humidity environments and tolerate temperatures from 70° to -40°.
Daniel Paul, director for access networks at Telefonica Spain, said, “The ODN is a fundamental part of FTTH deployment and thanks to Huawei we have improved our efficiency during the deployment process.”
You Yiyong, president, networks products line, at Huawei said, “The FastConnect solution proofs our commitment to innovation and improves the efficiency of ultra broadband networks.”
