Australia : MOZILLA announces a major push into Asia-Pacific region for Firefox OS smartphone platform

Mozilla is planning to push into the Asia-Pacific region for its low-cost Firefox OS smartphone platform, while repeating its commitment to smart TVs and a ChromeCast-style streaming device.

It is expected that Taiwanese telco Chunghwa Telecom would introduce the devices, while carriers Spice and Intex are set to launch the devices in India.

The footprint of the platform is also extending into developed markets, with an announcement Telefónica would start distributing the devices in Germany and ZTE launching in France.

The development work on its smart TV project with Panasonic, is also being proceeded ahead by Mozilla.

At the same time, it is also unveiled by Mozilla, a company called aBitCool is collaborating to manufacture its forthcoming Chromecast-style HDMI stick, which it claims would be launched “later this year”.
