Aon Uganda Limited declared that it has selected Elly Karuhanga as its new Board chairman. Karuhanga is a City Lawyer and former Tullow Uganda Chair. He is also the current Chairman of the Uganda Chamber of Mines and Petroleum with a wide range of sectors from manufacturing, banking, tourism, energy, technology, among others which will be instrumental in driving the company through the next phase in the market.

Karuhanga said, “In the last six decades, the country has been through various ups and downs. However, Aon has stood by Uganda and all its clients continuously providing risk management solutions. I’m happy and honored to be part of the next phase of Aon’s development.” “With the new changes, Aon will continuously provide risk advisory services to its clients and will ensure that the risks are only placed in firms that meet the clients’ needs and are financially sound,” said Maurice Amogola, the Aon Uganda Chief Executive Officer.

“We now see further growth going forward as new opportunities arise in areas such as oil and gas, mining, agriculture and micro-insurance with services targeting clients at all levels,” Amogola said, “Aon will continue to work towards stronger claim processes to help shift the negative public perception that insurers do not pay claims and thus help deepen the insurance penetration in Uganda. Insurance penetration in Uganda is very law at about 12%.”
