Australia : Two U.S. states successfully go-live with major financial system modernizations

Publish Date : 23-Aug-2014

CGI today announced that the states of Colorado and West Virginia have successfully launched new financial management systems utilizing the unique built-for-government capabilities of its CGI Advantage enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. In the Rocky Mountain state, the Colorado Operations Resource Engine (CORE) replaces a legacy 22-year old accounting system that was written in COBOL with outdated green screen technology. The new accounting system integrates budget and purchasing functions, allowing the State to replace multiple aging and redundant systems with a single source of reliable and transparent fiscal data for the majority of the state’s financial operations. CGI provides full managed services for the state and U.S.-based hosting.

“CORE will help Colorado departments and agencies reach new levels of efficiency and effectiveness,” said Kathy Nesbitt, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Personnel & Administration. “It’s a transformative solution that will serve our citizens for years to come and I applaud the outstanding work of our state team and CGI.” In West Virginia, Our Advanced Solution with Integrated Systems (wvOASIS) replaces more than 100 outdated business applications, many over 20 years old. wvOASIS supports a wide range of business functions, including financial, human resources, payroll, and procurement management and standardizes core processes to improve statewide access to information and reporting.

“We are proud to be the technology partner for CORE and wvOASIS and applaud the tremendous efforts of both teams for reaching these significant milestones,” said Daniel Keene, Senior Vice President, Advantage Program, CGI. “CGI Advantage continues to prove that our built-for-government solution reduces implementation risk and provides best value to our clients. We are committed to delivering high quality solutions for our growing user community, including Colorado and West Virginia, while reducing total cost of ownership, providing more efficient government operations, and continuing to drive innovation in our clients’ ERP programs.”

CGI has more than 37 years of ERP software and service delivery for federal, state and local governments, and has implemented more than 400 government ERP systems, including those in Massachusetts, Kentucky, Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, and West Virginia. Recently, six of the last seven states to move forward with ERP modernizations chose CGI as their technology partner, and two of the nation’s most populous local jurisdictions -- New York City and Los Angeles County – also utilize ERP systems powered by CGI.
