Japan : KDDI announces launch of creative platform for Firefox OS developers
Publish Date : 07-Oct-2014
KDDI, Japanese communications provider, has announced the launch of a creative platform for embedded-system developers and Web developers. The platform includes Open Web Board, a development board based on Firefox OS that allows connecting with various electronic devices supplied with NFC function, and Gluin, an application development tool that allows linking programming between electronic devices with a few operations on a PC browser.
KDDI will be responsible for providing Open Web Board for use with Gluin free of charge at developer events starting from end-October. Moreover, ahead of the Open Web Board and Gluin distribution, KDDI has inaugurated the "au Firefox OS Portal Site". This community site will be responsible for serving as a place where KDDI releases details about upcoming developer events and as a place where developers can share ideas about devices and programming.
The Open Web Board stick-type development board allows connection with various commercial devices that support Bluetooth Low Energy sensors. In addition, by linking with a commercially-available Zigbee communication module, it is possible to connect with a wide array of embedded-system electronic devices.
