Belarus : BELARUS elaborates new version of public procurement law

A senior official of the public procurement department at the Belarus Trade Ministry has announced that a work is being carried out to elaborate a new version of the public procurement law in Belarus. The official said this during the briefing dedicated to the revisions to the public procurement law on 19 January.

According to the official, certain provisions of the country's law "Concerning public procurement of goods (works, services)" are in conflict with the needs of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) Treaty and Decree No. 657 as of 31st December 2014 "Concerning the amendments and additions to Belarus President Decree No. 590 as of 31 December 20130"

He said, under the government's order, a task force was formed to elaborate a new version of the law regulating public procurement.
The official further said the document is expected to be filed with the House of Representatives by 1 April 2015. He added that they will have the law on 1st January 2016 that will help put an end to all disputes and bring the public procurement rules in Belarus in line with the provisions of the EEU Treaty.
