Czech Republic : CZECH Defence Ministry cancels tender for recovery vehicles

Publish Date : 07-Feb-2015

A tender for procurement of five recovery vehicles for Pandur armoured personnel carriers worth 191 million crowns has been cancelled by the Czech Defence Ministry as the tender discriminated against some bidders. The tender which was declared by the ministry in late September 2014 was cancelled on January 29, and the actual reason for the cancellation would be released by February 13.

According to the ministry's statement on the server of public tenders, the demand that the recovery vehicles had to have a given type of chassis was discriminating and limited the competition.
According to the tender, one of the demands was that the recovery vehicles must have the Tatra 815 chassis.

Out of total eight bidders, two had filed a complaint against the tender for recovery vehicles with the Czech antitrust office UOHS.
The Czech army itself required the Tatra 815 chassis, as the Tatras are the trucks being mostly used by the army. Earlier, the Defence Ministry was planning procurement of 11 recovery vehicles for 600 million crowns from the Czech VOP military repairs company.
